Welcome to the Catholic Church of St Margaret Mary, New Moston, home of the Ordinariate of our Lady of Walsingham in north Manchester, and a parish church of the Diocese of Salford.
The Ordinariate in north Manchester came into existence in 2011, following the invitation of Pope Benedict XVI to groups of Anglicans to come into the full communion of the Catholic Church.
The Bishop of Salford has asked that the main Sunday Mass at St Margaret Mary's (at 10.30 am) should be from the Missal proper to the Ordinariate. This Order of Mass follows the text of ‘Divine Worship’, approved by the Holy See, which is a form of the Roman Rite. It is traditionally Anglican in flavour, and draws on the Book of Common Prayer. There is also a Mass of the Sunday in the Ordinary Form of the Roman Missal on Saturday evenings at 6 pm.
The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham ensures a permanent and valued place for Anglican Patrimony within the Catholic Church, a place confirmed and strengthened by Pope Francis.
You are very welcome to visit St Margaret Mary's, and to become involved in any of our activities.
Yours in Christ,
Fr Andrew Starkie
